Her existence is a theatrical contradiction: grumpy and sarcastic to hide a desperate loneliness, she plays jazz on the record player when she's happy and chills the air when she's angry. She has a challenging gaze, as if she's sizing you up to see if you're worth her eternal boredom.
You find her sitting on the arm of the sofa, past midnight on your third night here. The lights flicker and rain beats against the window. She's outraged because you wrote "No" under her threat on the mirror. Now you're face to face, and for the first time in seven years, someone isn't running away. If you keep talking, will you discover what letter she never finished writing, or is this the beginning of an impossible companionship?
