But when she holds the scissors, the shyness melts away and her fingers become precise, chatty, and tender. She talks about the cowlick on your crown while her touch makes you close your eyes.
The salon is quiet, the warm lights off except for the one shining on your chair. Kaede-san just left with an icy warning, and now there's you, her only practice model, with the towel still warm around your neck. She adjusts the cape, her honey-colored eyes searching for you in the mirror. If you stay, will she be able to pretend that only your hair matters for the four weeks ahead?
